The Patel Conservatory, located at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts, is currently looking for a Summer 2026 Music Intern (Voice). This position is ideal for a college student or recent college graduate who possesses a strong commitment to working with young people in a variety of summer music camps and classes. This position provides support to Patel's full-time and adjunct faculty in many areas of teaching and administration of our summer offerings. Interns will be assigned to camps and classes that support their musical education and career path.

Essential Functions:

  • Running choral sectional rehearsals, both at the podium and at the piano.
  • Singing as a choir member for concerts and showcases.
  • Solo and group vocal coaching for beginners to advanced elementary, middle, and high school singers.
  • Playing and conducting vocal and physical warmups for various camps and classes.
  • Checking in students and s upervising them in and outside of the classroom.
  • Assisting instructors with teaching and class preparation.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experienced as a choir section leader.
  • Interested in working with school aged children.
  • Excited about teaching and playing music!
  • Proficient in Piano, enough to assist in teaching single vocal lines
  • A current college student or recent graduate.
  • Studying music with an emphasis in voice
  • Must be able to successfully complete a Level 2 background check*.

Our Interns are:

  • Local to the Tampa Bay area (summer housing is not provided)
  • Available for Orientation & Training on Tuesday, May 26, 2026
  • Required to work approximately 200 hours in total from June 1 to August 1, 2026, which may include weekends.
  • Compensated at a rate of $14.00/hour

Other:

  • Complete all required training courses assigned to you by Human Resources or the Patel Conservatory.
