Role: Breakfast Cook

Location: 2907 McKinney Street, Suite 100, Melissa, TX

Purpose: The Breakfast Cook at HOPE Coffee Melissa is responsible for preparing and cooking breakfast items under the supervision and direction of the Chef. Each item should be prepared with excellence and quality, maintaining the high standards of HOPE Coffee Melissa. The Breakfast Cook ensures quality standards, safe conditions, and fosters a positive environment for both customers and team members while embodying our Team Values:

What You’ll Do:

Kitchen Production:

• Prepare and cook menu items comprised of to-go, in-house, and grab-and-go items.
• Keep an organized queue of orders as they come in and go out in a timely manner.
• Remain focused and accurate while preparing each order in a fast-paced cooking environment.

Kitchen Operations:

• Maintain a clean and healthy kitchen environment that meets local health codes by following the cleaning instructions from the Chef.
• Assist the team in accurately checking in and putting away food deliveries.
• Ensure all kitchen equipment is properly cleaned and maintained, reporting any issues to the Chef promptly.
• Monitor inventory levels and notify the Chef of any shortages or required restocking.
• Assist in training new kitchen staff, ensuring they understand the HOPE Coffee Melissa standards and procedures.

Prepping Grab-and-Go Foods:

• Prepare and package grab-and-go items for customers, ensuring they are fresh, appealing, and meet quality standards.
• Label and date all prepared grab-and-go items accurately, adhering to food safety guidelines.
• Monitor the grab-and-go section throughout the day, restocking items as needed to ensure availability for customers.

Leadership Requirements and Qualifications:

• Must be 18 or older.
• Prior commercial kitchen experience preferred.
• Able to work early morning shifts starting as early as 5:00 am.
• Proficient in using kitchen equipment (oven, griddle, steam table, hot box, etc.).
• Able to read, understand, and communicate in English effectively.
• Capable of standing for long periods and lifting up to 45 lbs.
• Able to frequently use hands and fingers, handle hot food and beverages, and work with sharp objects.
• Maintain personal grooming and hygiene standards to meet health codes.
• Friendly and team-oriented, with a heart to serve.
